January 24, 2011 (Day 359) — Seattle Manhattan
What’s coffee known for besides trust-fund hippies who can afford to not have a job and complain about “those corporations, man?”
Okay, besides that and hipsters and crusty facial hair?
Coffee of course! This recipe from the master mixologists at Jim Beam created this sweet and powerful cocktail to stride the line between masculine and froofy. It’s for the girl in your life who happens to have some balls swinging around.
Although I hope not literally. Unless of course you’re into that sort of thing. More power to you. I’m not here to judge.
Seattle Manhattan
1 oz coffee liqueur
1 oz sweet vermouth
.5 oz creme de cacao
2 oz bourbon
(This has been modified from the original recipe found at jimbeam.com)
Shake in a cocktail shaker filled with crushed ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or a coffee bean.
Very, very good if coffee is your thing. If it’s not, then avoid this. Very well balanced, but has a nice bourbon-y sweetness on the end of it. Dig it.
Cheers!
