January 23, 2011 (Day 358) — Winter Slumber
Last night we were trying to stay awake to finish up a paint job. Tonight seems like the perfect time to warm up with a delicious cocktail and maybe do a little bit of relaxing around the house.
This is a cocktail I’ve been sitting on for a while and had honestly forgot about for a while. I found this cocktail around the time I first started the blog on the Drink of the Week Website.
Winter Slumber
2 oz bourbon
.5 oz Hiram Walker Pumpkin Spice Liqueur
.25 oz part Chai
1.5 oz Heavy Whipping Cream
Cinnamon & Sugar for Rim Garnish
Place liquids in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into a cocktail glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar.
While this is listed as a winter drink, I’m going to go ahead and call this an autumn cocktail. It has a nice heavy taste, and the pumpkin spice is quite lovely. However, with all the cinnamon, chai, pumpkin, etc. it really just reminds me of a Thanksgiving cocktail. Very tasty though. Reminds me of a pumpkin pie in a glass.
Cheers!
