June 27, 2010 (Day 148) — Kahlua Colada
We finished our run of “Pageant: The Musical” today! A very successful run at that! Now, because I’m exhausted I’ll make this one short and sweet. And tropical!
Why make a plain ol’ boring Pina Colada when you can make the Kahlua Colada — an interesting play on the classic tropical cocktail.
2 oz Kahlua
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz coconut milk
1 tablespoon mango puree
1 splash dark rum
Mix all your ingredients in a cocktail shaker, then strain into a hurricane glass filled with ice. Garnish with a fresh pineapple slice.
I put one in a Hurricane glass so you can see what it should look like, then another in a rocks glass so you can get the color. The coffee flavor the Kahlua was actually pretty decent with the pineapple, coconut milk and mango puree. I bit of a foofy drink, which isn’t a problem if you like those kinds of things.
Me: Tasty, but just a bit too sweet.
Jenn: I can’t believe you think it’s foofy! It’s really good!
Paul (my bro): Not bad. Not really my cup of tea. (Interestingly enough, he then proceeded to actually drink tea. Damn Yale students).
Nancy (my mom): Oooooooh. That’s really good! (She the continued to steal sips of mine).
So there you have it: nothing really outstanding, but a good solid, sweet summertime drink! And really, who could ask for much more when it’s so god-damned hot out.
Cheers!
