Back on June 14, the cocktail world celebrated National Bourbon Day. We celebrated, too, but perhaps a bit too much.
Cocktails, 365 Rating: ★★★★☆ Definitely not the ideal bourbon to introduce a newcomer, but for a small batch American, it’s a bit of brilliance, if not wholly balanced.
Angel’s Envy neat is the spirit at its strongest. It embodies the perfect balance of sweetness and spice that you’d expect from a higher-quality bourbon. It finishes clean and is, perhaps, just a bit too easy to drink.
While the Mint Julep is a damn fine cocktail (and one of our favorites), there are a lot of other options out there to tickle your Bourbon bone for Derby Day.
As mentioned in yesterday’s post, September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, which means we’re dedicating our September posts to that lovely native spirit of bourbon. This is one of the better bourbons we’ve had the pleasure of sampling here at Cocktails, 365. It’s not going to move heaven and earth for you, and at roughly $30 it’s not going to be your go-to bourbon for large crowds. However, you can do a lot worse at $30 a bottle.
