May 31, 2011 (Day 64) — Mule Kick
While Cocktails, 365 was in Lawrence, Kansas this past week, we had the pleasure of tasting the Moscow Mule at Bird Dog Bar near campus. While we’ve always been fond of Moscow Mules, the bartenders at Bird Dog served up the perfectally balanced mule. So naturally after returning back to home base, we were craving another one.

Another round, fellas?
However, we figured that with something as unique and Texan as Tito’s, we needed to play it up a little bit. It wasn’t enough to simply put some Tito’s in a glass and call it a Moscow Mule. We needed to kick it up a notch or three.
Mule Kick
2 oz Tito’s Handmade Vodka
1 oz lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
Two dashes Angostura bitters
Ginger beer to top.
Combine all the ingredients in a rocks glass filled with ice. Serve along with a swift kick in the shins.
Like a Moscow Mule, but that bit of bitters gives it a nice orange tint and a perfect bit of spice on the end that isn’t overpowered by the intense ginger beer.
Great combination going on here, ginger beer and bitters? we like it..definitely a must try.
Cheers,
DIA
