Scotch is notoriously difficult to mix with. Much like your drunken uncle at the Thanksgiving table, often times it can be pleasant. But only under the correct circumstances.

There those among the scotch camp who turn their nose up at most blended scotches. However, to do that with the Syndicate 58/6 is to do a disservice to a surprisingly rich and complex scotch.

This variation of the Rusty Nail uses a single malt Islay (we like Ardbeg 10) in place of the recommended blended scotch, giving it a heavier, smokier flavor, and adds just a bit of Tawny port to deepen the sweetness and add a few more layers of flavor.
