Alaska Cocktail

The Savoy Project Day Eight – Alaska Cocktail

The Savoy Project is an online chronicle of Cocktails, 365 editor Mark A. Vierthaler’s quest to make every single cocktail in The Savoy Cocktail Book. Each recipe contains the original recipe as it appeared in the book, as well as which brand Mark used in parenthesis next to the ingredient.

  • 3/4 Dry Gin
  • 1/4 Chartreuse

Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.

Mark’s Notes:

The note from Harry Craddock within the book:

So far as can be ascertained this delectable potion is NOT the staple diet of the Esquimaux. It was probably first thought of in South Carolina, hence its name.

Whatever the shit that means.

The drink is actually quite lovely as mixed, with the herbals of Chartreuse underlining a nice, pleasant, dry gin.
