The Savoy Project Day Four – Affinity Cocktail
The Savoy Project is an online chronicle of Cocktails, 365 editor Mark A. Vierthaler’s quest to make every single cocktail in The Savoy Cocktail Book. Each recipe contains the original recipe as it appeared in the book, as well as which brand Mark used in parenthesis next to the ingredient.

Adonis Cocktail | ® 2017 Cocktails, 365
- 1/3 French (Dry) Vermouth (Martini & Rossi Extra Dry)
- 1/3 Italian (Sweet) Vermouth (Carpano Antica Formula)
- 1/3 Scotch Whisky (Bruichladdich Classic Laddie)
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Stir well and strain into cocktail glass. Squeeze lemon peel on top.
Mark’s Notes:
Scotch is notoriously difficult to mix with. With such a distinctive smokey, malty flavor it has a tendency to dominate anything that you try to pair it with.
Much like your drunken uncle at the Thanksgiving table, often times it can be pleasant. But only under the correct circumstances.
This mixture actually works really well. And that makes sense.
Keen-eyed readers will notice – it’s essentially a Perfect Rob Roy.
As they say, a Rob Roy by any other name tastes just as wonderful.
My uncle was smoking Maui Wowie.
I think that makes for a much more entertaining Thanksgiving!
