The Dichotomy of Kansas Springs

Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Zephyr.

It has been brutally windy the past four days here at Cocktails, 365 headquarters. So windy, in fact, that we’ve been making the news. I spoke with a colleague in California this afternoon who said the name Dodge City actually sauntered across their consciousness if only for a brief moment in time.

Here there be Cowes (via The Onion)

The insanity of the gale has limited visibility, trucks swept off the road, and generally made life miserable for everyone in the area. Add to that the 40-degree dip in temps and it would be easy to think that we’ve suddenly regressed back into fall. Yay for Spring-Fall (Sprall? Fing?) 2014!

Actually, this weather really isn’t that odd for a Kansas spring. Hunker down, bitches, it’s only the norm.

Just pour yourself a cocktail and wait for all of this to blow over.

Dichotomy

  •  3 oz cucumber vodka (Effen makes a lovely cucumber infusion, or just infuse it yourself you lazy bastard)
  • 1 quick dash peach brandy
  • 1 quick dash orange curaçao
  • 3 shakes of lavender bitters
  • Tonic water to top
  • Cucumber spear to garnish

Combine all the ingredients in a highball glass filled with cubed ice. Stir the liquors together well before adding the tonic, then gently stir the tonic in and garnish.

Dichotomy (we moved the bottle to see the level of dust being kicked up)
