New Brunswick is a thriving maritime city in Quebec.

New Brunswick the drink uses maple syrup. That seems kind of racist. Jingoist, whatever. Add to it the huge number of Scots in Canada, we’re not sure how to feel about this drink’s namesake.

We are sure what we think about the taste of the cocktail however; despite bizarre ingredients, it comes together for one smooth and hardy cocktail.

• 2 oz scotch whiskey
• 1 oz fresh lemon juice
• 1 oz real maple syrup

Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with chipped ice. Shake well and then strain into a chilled martini glass.
