August 11, 2013 (Day 94) – The Derby
There are a good number of variations of The Derby circulating around the world these days. Hell, there was a good number of variations circulating back in 1947 when a whopping three appeared in the 1947 version of Bartender’s Guide by Trader Vic came out. This recipe happens to be Ted “Doctor Cocktail” Haigh’s personal favorite and made appearance in his 2009 book.
- 1 oz bourbon
- 0.5 oz sweet vermouth
- 0.5 oz orange curaçao
- .75 oz fresh lime juice
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a mint leaf.
