Morning Glory Cocktail


June 1, 2013 (Day 23) – Morning Glory Cocktail

The Morning Glory Cocktail originally appeared in The Professor’s original cocktail book.

Like many from that time, it was meant to be drank in the morning. Mainly to waylay feeling like death warmed over from the previous night’s drinking.

It was vicious cycle.

  • Take 3 dashes of gum syrup.
  • 2 dashes of curaçao
  • 2 dashes of Boker’s bitters.
  • 1 dash of Absinthe
  • 1 pony (1 oz) of brandy
  • 1 pony (1 oz) of whiskey
  • 1 piece of lemon peel, twisted to express the oil
  • 2 small pieces of ice

Stir thoroughly and strain into a Collins glass.. Fill the glass with seltzer water or plain soda, and stir with a teaspoon having a little sugar in it.
