Hanky Panky

May 31, 2013 (Day 22) – Hanky Panky

This cocktail originally appeared in the Savoy Cocktail Book by Harry Craddock in 1930.

  • 1.5 oz gin
  • 1.5 oz sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Fernet Branca

Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist orange peel over the top the drink and then drop the peel in.

Fernet Branca is a type of Italian bitters and can be somewhat difficult to track down locally. Thankfully, through the power of the interblags, you can pick up a bottle of this for about $30 (not including shipping and handling). The other good news is that while that seem like a hit on the wallet, you’re going to have this bottle in your bar for a good long while.

Also, Happy Anniversary to my lovely wife Jenn! I SWEAR that this cocktail has nothing to do with today’s date.

Wink wink.
