May 12, 2013 (Day 5) – Lawhill

The spiciness of rye lends some excellent complexity to cocktails that aren’t present in other whiskeys. That spiciness can also bring out different layers of flavors in other super-powered liquors such as absinthe.


  • 2 oz rye whiskey
  • 1 oz dry vermouth
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash absinthe
  • 1 dash maraschino liqueur

Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and serve.
