January 12, 2012 (Day 289) — KellyBronze
If my Google-Fu serves me correctly, the KellyBronze is a type of turkey from Scotland. So, naturally, this is a combination of scotch whiskies with the Wild Turkey 81. Blasphemy for some, but we stand by our controversial decision.
KellyBronze
- 1.5 oz Wild Turkey 81
- 1 oz Bruichladdich Rocks Unpeated Scotch
- 1 oz Buchanan 18 Year Blended Scotch
Combine the three whiskies together in a classic 1930s cocktail glass. Place one large, clear ice-cube in the whisky. Now comes patience — wait until the ice-cube has fully melted before drinking. Good things come to those who wait.
Just be aware — this is a very intense, complex drink. Each of the whiskies has its own unique flavors that they bring. The water in the ice brings these flavors to the forefront, all the same time, while taking the drink down to a pleasant just-below-room-temperature level. You have distinct bitterness from the Buchanan, a nice light floral flavor from the Bruichladdich and then that sweetness and rye bite from the Wild Turkey.
Cheers!
