November 1, 2011 (Day 217) — Gingervitis
Okay, faithful readers. Pop culture pop quiz. Where does the term “gingervitis” come from?
Didn’t get it? Did I not give you enough time to guess. Too bad. Being a wordy blog we’re kind of stuck in time. We’re going to go ahead and give you the answer. No fear.
It’s a bit of a misleading name, considering there really isn’t too much ginger in this cocktail. However, I will jump at (almost) any chance to site South Park and create a solid cocktail for entertaining and whatnot. Also, it’s a quick one and I’m hitting the ice to coach youth hockey tonight, so swift and tasty is ideal.
Gingervitas
- 1.5 oz Burnett’s Citrus Vodka
- .5 oz dry vermouth
- 4 oz ginger ale
Combine vodka and vermouth in a cocktail shaker filled with crushed ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with the ginger ale.
Sweet, wine-like flavor. It has an almost sake-like quality. Very good celebratory cocktail. Delicate, classy.
Cheers!
