The Kooks have a (relatively) new song out that continues to get hooked in my mind, much like their other songs.

This drink takes it’s name from their new single, because in my mind both have a distinctly fall feeling to them.

This is a simple cider-based cocktail to warm up on a chilled Sunday morning.

Junk of the Heart

• 6 oz apple cider
• 2 oz Monarch Hazelnut Liqueur
• 1 dash cognac
• 1 dash cinnamon schnapps

Pour boiling cider into an Irish coffee mug. Top with the Monarch, cognac, and cinnamon schnapps. Stir well and serve.

Warming, and perfectly paired with some fresh homemade waffles with syrup. Like a blanket on a chilly day.
