October 4, 2011 (Day 189) — Fall Harvest
One of the best things about fall in Kansas is local cider. There’s an apple orchard in Kansas that makes some of the best apple cider around, which is then distributed across the state. It’s nice, cloudy, and incredibly crisp. It’s the perfect fit for fall cocktails based off a strong apple flavor. It also has a nice, heavier flavor than your standard apple juice. This makes it combination with a dark rum an excellent idea.
Fall Harvest
- 8 oz apple cider
- 2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
- .5 oz hazelnut liqueur
Heat the apple cider in an Irish coffee mug. Pour the two liquors in and stir well. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.
Cheers!
