August 1, 2011 — Featured Best Buy Booze Ke Ke Beach Key Lime
Liqueurs are kind of the bastard stepchildren of the cocktail world. They often take a back seat to the standard base spirits: vodka, rum, whiskey, etc. However, those that place liqueurs on a back burner are ignoring the fact that liqueurs are often the ones determining the flavor of the more exotic cocktails.
Ke Ke Beach Key Lime Liqueur is one that I was never very familiar. The main supplier for the Cocktails, 365 website (Comanche Beverage Outlet) has recommended we start experimenting with this liqueur.
The note given to us was “smells and tastes exactly like a key lime pie.”
Nose:
Strong key lime scent with just a little bit of background of graham cracker.
Neat:
Just a little too smooth. Strong, sweet key lime flavor with just a little bit of graham cracker on the end. Seriously. There’s graham cracker in here. Crazy. It’s like drinking a pastry.
On the Rocks:
Perfect to be drank on the rocks. Smooth, but not with a treacly, fake sweetness that I was afraid would be on something coming from McCormick.
This is going to make some killer cocktails. I’m excited.
Cheers!

This is a great liqueur Mark. I’ve used it many times for key lime pie martinis. It’s awesome! You’ll enjoy it! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
