July 12, 2011 (Day 106) — The Bohemian
Bohemianism is somewhat of a… shall we say… an unconventional lifestyle, “often in the company of like-minded people, with few permanent ties, involving musical, artistic or literary pursuits. In this context, Bohemians are wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.”
The famous Beat poet Allen Ginsberg is often considered an offspring of the Bohemian movement.
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
madness, starving hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn
looking for an angry fix, — Howl
Tonight, let’s bottle a bit of Bohemia. (This recipe is altered from the original provided by Phillips Union).
The Bohemian
- 1.5 oz Phillips Union Vanilla Whiskey
- 3 oz pineapple juice
Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker well and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add a dash of ginger ale.
Serve garnished with a pineapple chunk.
If you’ve shaken it enough, you’ll have a nice white foam on the top, similar to the head on a beer. Add a bit of ginger ale and you’ll bulk it up. This has a heavy, creamy, taste to it, despite no cream.
Cheers!
