Ginger Tea

June 23, 2011 (Day 87) — Ginger Tea

“If you throw a midget into a tub of hot water, he makes Sleepytime Tea! A big tub o’ camomile!” – Patton Oswalt

I’m not going to say Patton Oswalt endorses my blog. Because he doesn’t.

But man, wouldn’t it be cool if he did?

Tonight’s post has nothing to do with Patton Oswalt, other than every time I drink a cocktail with lavender in it I can’t help but have “A big ol’ tub o’ camomile” float through my head. And tonight’s drink kind of reminds me of Sleepytime Tea.

Ginger Tea

  • 1 oz E&J brandy
  • 2 oz fresh brewed black tea (chilled)
  • 1/2 oz lavender syrup
  • 3 mint leaves
  • 3 pieces ginger
  • extra mint leaf for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, add ginger, mint and simple syrup and muddle. Pour the brandy and fresh tea over top and muddle a little more. Strain into an ice filled glass. Garnish with a mint leaf.

Earthy and sweet. Reminds us of an earthier Mint Julep.

Cheers!
