June 13, 2011 — Smithwicks Ale
That’s right, ladies and gents. We’re making beertails this week. Because I’m a sucker for a challenge.
This week’s featured booze is Smithwick’s Ale. And as anyone who has some time whipping up cocktails knows, beertails are some of the hardest drinks to make. the unique hoppy flavor of beer can either come together to make a great cocktail or completely destroy everything in it.
We’re hoping to avoid the latter.
Smithwick’s is brewed by the maker’s of Guinness, but don’t think that this is a heavy stout.
It has a strong hop flavor, but is nice and bright for even the lowest-key beer drinkers. It’s one Jenn and I’s favorite beers, and is a great introduction for people who don’t have too much experience drinking good beers.
It’s great by itself, but perfect for people who want to challenge themselves for a good mixology test.
Cheers!
