Bayou Sue

June 3, 2011 (Day 67) — Bayou Sue

We here at Cocktails, 365 are suckers for Louisiana cooking and NOLA cocktails. It’s never been really hid at all.

We’re also big proponents of savory cocktails, which we’ve become convinced have got a bad rap and end up taking back seat to sweet cocktails.

This is a recipe taking and somewhat adapted from Tito’s own website.

Bayou Sue

  • 2.5 oz Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • .5 oz olive juice
  • 2 dashes hot sauce

Add the Tito’s, olive juice and hot sauce into a mixing tin. Add ice.  Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass (half rimmed with Zatarain’s Creole Seasoning). Garnish with a piece of pickled okra.

This is beautifully hot and perfectly balanced. This drink is how savory drinks are supposed to be made. Serve alongside some boudin and you’ll be in heaven.

Cheers!

Sounds delish! Can you shed some light on the photo that is accompanying this post? It’s intriguing!

    • I’m not too sure about the background of the photo used. We googled Bayou Sue and that’s what came up. We’re suckers for cajun history though, so if you happen to know of anyone who can shed some light on it, we’d love to hear!
