Sapphire Alpine

April 18, 2011 (Day 20) — Sapphire Alpine

Last night we focused a drier, more bitter iteration of the classic martini. The Sapphire Alpine heads to the sweeter side, using orange-flavored blue curacao and peach schnapps in place of the traditional vermouth.  After a six hour day out in the sun fixing our flower beds that the dogs decided to destroy, this is a nice, breezy cocktail.

Sapphire Alpine

  • 2 oz New Amsterdam gin
  • 1 oz blue curacao liqueur
  • 1 oz peach schnapps

Add equal parts to ice in shaker.  Stir well.  Strain into chilled martini glass.  Garnish with orange slice.

Don't let the photobombs fool you. It's actually pretty good.

Very sweet on the start, but a pleasant summer drink. It may prove just a bit too sweet for people (such as me) who prefer a bit more bite in their cocktails. Very pretty though.

Cheers!
