April 2, 2011 (Day 6) —Stargazer

It’s spring which means that we can spend some time out in the field, watching the stars. What does that make you? A Stargazer.

Tonight’s the art auction for the local art house, which I was asked to contribute to, so it’ll be a short one tonight. I’m off to schmooze!


• 1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey

• 1 1/2 ounces Lillet blanc

• 1 dash Angostura bitters

Combine in a Boston shaker, stir well until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

The Lillet adds a little bit something… odd about the drink. It’s not that the drink is bad, it’s just that the lightness of the Lillet seems at odds with the bitters and the rye. Probably not something I would recommend regularly, however as I always stress — try these things out for yourself. I’m sure you could always end up with something you really like!
