January 26, 2011 (Day 361) — Moulin Rouge
Okay, I know I’m going to lose man points for this. But I really like the Baz Luhrman movie “Moulin Rouge.”
I’m not too proud to admit it either. And I really do apologize. I just really dig the hyper-saturated videography, the style of Paris at that time and strippers. Lots and lots of strippers.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to you.
Moulin Rouge
2 oz sloe gin
1.5 oz sweet vermouth
1 dash bitters
Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and stir vigorously until well mixed and cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass and serve with a hefty dose of camp.
This is a very French drink, if that makes any sense. It has a very distinct flavor of the sloe gin and vermouth, that’s strong but no entirely unpleasant.
I would call this a manly girly drink.
Cheers!

I see you got sucked into buying that Pumpkin Spice crap too! Third worst thing I ever put in my mouth.
