January 22, 2011 (Day 357) — Cafe Royal
After a long week at work and another week of work and volunteering stretching out ahead of you, there are times you really need a pick-me-up on those long Saturday afternoons. For example, I’m getting ready to paint an entire room of our house and I’m going to need something to push me through until the end. While a beer in the hand is always a good idea for painting, it’s just a smidgen too cold for that tonight.
So, here’s a little pick-me-up as we head out into the night. And if you’re unlike me and you’re getting ready to head out for a night on the town, this is a good one to take down before you head out the door (with a cab of course).
Cafe Royal
2 oz bourbon
1 oz orange brandy
Hot, dark coffee to top
Pour your bourbon and orange brandy into an Irish coffee mug and then top with the coffee. Stir well and serve.
Bourbon really does well in coffee, especially if you have the right mixture. Nice and sweet, but strong as well.
Cheers!
