January 15, 2011 (Day 350) — Sparkling Tropics
For those of you who have been too timid to dip your toes into the infused vodka game, I cannot encourage you enough to try your hand at it. You’ll really be surprised what you come up with. This drink is based off a bottle of Double-Citrus Vodka that infused over several weeks using a grapefruit, lemon and lime. The resulting mixture has a very strong citrus flavor, so you have to be careful what you come up with. This, however, was a pleasant brunch drink that was perfectly sipped on a Saturday morning.
This is also a great cocktail to make if you happen to have some spare champagne laying around (which, incidentally, we do).
Sparkling Tropics
1.5 oz citrus vodka
1.5 oz orange liqueur
4 oz orange juice
Champagne to top.
Combine your ingredients in a large wine glass and serve, garnished with an orange slice. If you’re not interested in that much, the recipe is easily reduced.
Very fresh and bright. And while its taste and ingredients seem to scream “Summer drink” it really does mix together to make a perfect winter brunch sipper.
Cheers!
