January 7, 2010 (Day 342) — Ultimate Recovery Smoothie
Some very unwelcome stomach bug decided to settle atop of me whilst I was up in Nebraska this week. I spent most of the 4 1/2 hour drive back home sleeping, thanks to an excellent coworker who was willing to shuffle by sick ass back to Kansas. Because of this, I’m obviously not going to be up for my usual cocktail shenanigans. However, I would be remiss in my duty if I missed the chance to write up something for you fine folks.
Since I’ve been more than happy to post non-alcoholic drinks here in the past, here’s one that’s non-alcoholic, but will help replenish all those vitamins you’ve been losing while hunched over the comode. This also works great for those of you who’ve had too much to drink the night before and are experiencing similar flu-like symptoms. This sounds weird, and kind of is, but it does work.
Ultimate Recovery Drink
2 cups milk
1 cup orange juice
1 banana
1 cup frozen mangoes
1/4 salt
6 oz clamato juice
Blend that shit in a blender and chug it.
Despite the seemingly disparate ingredients, it mixes together to be a very pleasant sweet and salty drink. It will also help rehydrate you, and replace a lot of those electrolytes you lost. Surprisingly enough, at least for me, it also settled my stomach down. Good luck and feel better.
