Cranberry Champagne

December 15, 2010 (Day 319) — Cranberry Champagne

“On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…”

It’s the week before Christmas, and we’re counting down the 12 days until Christmas. If you’re anything like me (and if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you probably are), then you need some extra shall we say… motivation to finish out this week strong and head into the holiday week full of vim and vigor. Weather you’re hosting this year’s Christmas, or simply bartending for it, make sure you have these drinks lined up in your arsenal. From yesterday on into next week and Christmas, I’ll be making some sparkly and festive drinks that you can count on to wow your visitors and family.

You know it's been a good party!

This evening we’ll be indulging in some champagne-based goodness. Champagne is always a great holiday cocktail base, because you can mix it with other colors to create a nice-looking, and pleasant tasting, drink. This is Cocktails, 365’s  own version of the ever-present Cranberry Champagne cocktail.

Cranberry Champagne

One sugar cube

Grenadine syrup

2 oz cranberry juice

Champagne

Place the sugar cube at the bottom of a champagne glass and soak it in a drizzle of grenadine. Let it is there. Pour the cranberry juice into the flute and stir well to mix up the sugar. Top with champagne.

Pretty, no? This has a bit of sweetness on the end of the drink, but is very pleasant and bright for a snowy evening.

Cheers!
