Tropical Ale

November 13, 2010 (Day 287) — Tropical Ale

Well, like I mentioned last night, I’m going to temper your weekend a bit with some non-alcoholic drinks to either help you get back on your feet after a couple “too-long” weekends, or if you’re in the mood for something that’s tasty but you’re not too interested in having to fight off a buzz.

Now, that’s not to say I haven’t indulged in a cocktail today. My amazing wife greeted me this morning with an Irish coffee after actually getting to sleep in a little bit! Because she’s pretty damn amazing like that. But, in trying to keep this Website at least SOMEWHAT respectable, I figured I should follow through with my “non-alcoholic” promise.

Because we're classy here, goddamit.

So, let’s go with one of the classic if you will.

Tropical Ale

4 oz ginger ale

4 oz pineapple juice

Grenadine

Fill a highball glass with ice, then mix equal parts of the ginger ale and pineapple juice. Drizzle grenadine over the top so it creates these cool-looking red tendrils snaking down through the drink.

Taste: Dead-on to wedding punch. I mean DEAD-on. Which means, naturally, that I’m going to have to drink about a dozen of these because for whatever reason I’ve always been addicted to the taste of wedding punch. Curse you sparkling soda and juices!

Cheers!
