November 3, 2010 (Day 277) — Dead Leaves
“Dead leaves and the dirty ground/when I know you’re not around/shiny tops and soda pops/when I hear your lips make a sound” — Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes
It’s officially fall! I’m going to have to go out and actually rake the yard tonight. So, why not make something that reflects on the lovely somberness that comes with fall days as dead leaves fall to the ground and litter the remaining green with brown.
Dead Leaves
2 oz spiced rum
2 oz apple cider
1 oz cinnamon whiskey
1 cinnamon stick for garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and then pour your ingredients (except the cinnamon stick) into the shaker. Shake 30 to 45 seconds, until the shaker is almost too cold to hold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, then garnish with the cinnamon stick.
Very smooth and fall like. I dig it. It’s a nice warm flavor with tones of autumn throughout. I can recommend it!
Special Backstage Photos!
It’s kind of a pain in the ass to shoot photos when you have two dogs that like to be in the middle of everything. For example:
and
… Damn dogs…

I made a drink that was spiced cider, Jamaican rum, and apricot brandy – 3 oz of cider and 1.5 oz – 2 oz of each liquor to taste/tolerance. Came out pretty good. I’ll have to try this recipe though.
Nice Vizsla!
