October 18, 2010 (Day 261) — La Bueña Vida
Let’s play around with mezcal a little bit this evening. I’m always up for a challenge. This one is actually from a Website dedicated to mezcal-based cocktails.
La Bueña Vida (The Good Life)
1 dash orange bitters
3/4 oz mezcal
3/4 oz sweet vermouth
1 oz Aperol
1 1/2 oz anejo tequila
Pour all your ingredients in a pint glass filled with cracked ice. Stir very well, then strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice.
Very spicy and smoky. Much like the other mezcal cocktail I made, this is NOT for the faint of heart. All of the flavors mix together and create a great overall drink, but surprisingly each of the flavors is uniquely pronounced as well. I’m truly fascinated by the taste of mezcal and the complexity of the liquor is going to be interesting to play around with.
Cheers!
