Bacardi

August 18, 2010 (Day 201) — Bacardi

Good news, everyone!

You just read this in my voice!

We’ve reached over 200 posts! Can you believe that? I have made (over) 200 unique cocktails over the past 200 days. That means we’re already on the downhill slide until the end of this yearlong experiment.

Bacardi

2 oz Bacardi light rum

1 oz lime juice

1/2 tsp simple syrup

1 dash grenadine

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine your rum, lime juice, syrup and grenadine. Shake well. Now DON’T strain, but pour your ice and cocktail into a chilled rocks glass. Technically, there’s two ways to do this. You can strain it into a chilled cocktail glass. However, I feel like this drink is better served on the rocks. It offers up a nice sipping drink that you don’t have to worry about warming up.

Ahhh, classic cocktails. What would I do without you? You’re delicious, well balanced, and flavorful, yet you’re not afraid to grab me by the testicles and turn me into a wobbly-kneed sobbing man-boy. That is to say, there’s quite a kick to this drink, which is exactly how we like it.

Even Jenn liked it, which is a bit of a feat when it comes to the monstrous, booze-slobbering classics. Not that she doesn’t like strong drinks (I’m pretty sure we’ve well established that she wants to taste her booze), but rather classic cocktails don’t have much to temper the bite of alcohol. This one does. And it’s lovely.

Cheers!
