Lemon Drop

June 23, 2010 (Day 144) — Lemon Drop

We’ve already made the Rose City Drop, so why not hearken back to that amazing cocktail’s base — The Lemon Drop.

This is an excellent dessert drink after a heavy meal, because it has a nice sweet and sour kick to it. This is also a great “end of the night” drink. If you have your favorite bar that you always like to wrap your nights up with, see if they can’t make you one of these. It adds a nice perkiness to the evening.

2 oz vodka

3/4 oz lemon juice

.5 oz simple syrup

.5 oz triple sec

Lemon twist for garnish.

Use your squeezed lemon to run round the edge of a chilled martini glass. Rim with sugar. Shake your mixture thoroughly, then strain into your prepared glass. Garnish with your lemon.

This is a great summer drink — very crisp and refreshing. The sweet does an excellent job balancing out the sour.

Jenn’s verdict: “I approve! I don’t know why, but I’m really obsessed with lemon lately.”

My verdict: “And how. While not as sweet as the boozy lemonade I’ve made in the past, this is a great sweet drink without being treacle.”

Cheers!
