May 20, 2010 (Day 110) — The Doubletree

“I can’t tell you what hotel I’m stayin’ in, but there are two trees involved.” — Mitch Hedberg, Mitch All Together

That was what first popped into my head this evening when I was scouring through Cripin Cider’s mixology page looking for a new cocktail to make with the samples I received earlier this week. Hedberg is one of my all-time favorite comedians. Unfortunately, he died in 2005. But that hasn’t stopped his material from growing tastier with age. Like a good whiskey.

But, this seemed like a simple enough drink to make, and it includes ingredients that have proven to be successful — Crispin and gin. Let’s hop to it!

1.5 oz gin (Hendrick’s)

3 parts Crispin Brut

Build in a rocks glass filled with ice, stir and garnish with a lime wedge.

Helllllllllll yeah. Crisp, clean and smooth. The Crispin Brut by itself is tasty. So is the Hendrick’s. Combine, they make for a very summery drink. It’s bright, with a great after taste. A perfect drink to sit on the front porch and watch the sunset on a balmy summer evening.

Proof that good quality products do make for a good quality cocktail.
