March 13, 2010 (Day 42) — Red Beer
Beer is delicious.
Really.
I’m not sure if you knew it, but beer is really really great.
And while beer certainly is a fine enough beverage in and of itself, it’s a killer base for other drinks. Now… would red beer be considered a cocktail? Well, It’s alcohol and I’m mixing shit, so that’s close enough for me!
There’s a Bloody Mary mix called Zing Zang which I bought on SERIOUS and REPEATED recommendation by the people at my favorite liquor store. Now, I’m kind of a snob when it comes to making things from scratch, especially when it comes to cocktails. But, when I have people whose opinion on booze I respect tell me that I have to try it, who am I to disagree.
Before I tried a Bloody Mary, I was more interested in their other suggestion — Red Beer. And man… two thumbs up.
It’s really REALLY good. I used an Avalanche Ale from the Breckenridge Brewing Company (REALLY good beer, by the by) to mix.
- 1 bottle good, quality beer (Breckendridge Avalanche Ale)
- 4 oz Bloody Mary mix (Zing Zang)
Stir.
It’s way delicious. If you have the chance, pick up the Zing Zang. I’m pretty sure I’ll prefer this to making my own mix from now on.
Happy Early St. Patty’s Day!
Cheers!
