March 3, 2010 (Day 32) — Burning Bush
Man, there’s about 20 different ways I could take the name of this cocktail. I could go the religious route, via Moses and the burning bush. I could go the academic route and reference the University of Kansas’ (my alma mater) seal, which depicts Moses next to the burning bush of knowledge. These are all great starting points, which could then be parlayed into well thought out, educational discourse. Fortunately, I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy, so I’m going down the sexual innuendo route!
Now, I’m kind of distracted with this whole KU/K-State basketball game. So, it’ll be short.
Ingredients for the Burning Bush:
- 2 oz Irish whiskey
- 1/4 lemon (large)
- Dash of simple syrup
- Boiling hot water
Mix together. Drink. But be very damn careful and DON’T inhale. It’ll kick your ass if you take a deep breathe. Trust me on this.
It’s good. The lemon still does will with the whiskey. That damn aftertaste is still sticking around, though. Per Lee’s suggestion on last night’s post, I’ll be trying either Bushmills or Jameson next time around. I would recommend it, but only if you like oddities. It’s strangely tasty.
Cheers!
