ORIGINAL — Jump Start Martini

June 7, 2010 (Day 128) — The Jump Start Martini

Today is Monday. And unlike my usual Mondays, for whatever reason I’ve simply been dragging. Do you ever have those days where you get everything you need to accomplished, but it feels like a slow slog through molasses?

Well, after careful consideration of my liquor cabinet — i.e. staring at it blankly for a couple of minutes — I happened upon a Cocktails, 365 original. Something that can relax you after a stressful day, but give you that boost that you need for a busy evening.

So, I give to you The Jump Start Martini

2 oz Van Gogh’s Double Espresso Vodka

2 oz Kahlua

1 oz Starbucks Cream Liqueur

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with three whole coffee beans.

This really tastes like a martini that would be made at a coffee shop. The strong kick of the coffee vodka is bolstered with the sweet coffiness of the Kahlua. The cream liqueur acts as the creme in your normal black coffee, giving this one hell of a bite without any edge. For all you coffee lovers at there, this will be right up your alley. I love it. I could easily see this being a dessert drink for a dinner party when no one is quite ready to call it a night.

It perks you up and smooths you over.

Cheers!
